Just so there is no confus...I stand by what I said
Just so there is no confusion, the three most important articles in the Lisbon Treaty are:
1) "The Union shall have a single legal personality". (In other words it will be a country, or Superstate, in its own right);
2) "The laws of the Union shall have supremacy over the laws of the member states" and
3) "It will be for an unlimited period". (In other words it will be for ever.)
It is also self-amending and there will be no need for any further treaties.
It is important to emphasize that the British Government (including the Conservatives) have ratified the
Lisbon Treaty without giving the British people the referendum that they were promised.
Had that occurred this debate would not be happening at all !

Ian Walsh Torbay UKIPAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6385595.post-24653844982380064042010-04-22T14:12:30.279+00:002010-04-22T14:12:30.279+00:00Sorry, Ian, that is not quite right. The UK Parlia...Sorry, Ian, that is not quite right. The UK Parliament has premacy over the EU.

The EU may well make up new rules but in law we Brits have to write them into our statute books before they have legal force in the UK.

If the European Union proposed any new rules which involve a further loss of power we have pledged not to write them into British Law (and thus make them binding in Britain) without asking the British public in a referendum.

The EU debate needs to be accurate, otherwise people will lose faith in all sides.Marcus Woodhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13540289778100132614noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6385595.post-62137383460702064502010-04-22T12:52:33.140+00:002010-04-22T12:52:33.140+00:00Typo

"s...David Cameron said in Torbay on the 21st

"step 7. is important, we should remember as politicians that we are sent to parliament yes to make divisions/conclusions etc, we are not sent to parliament to give away powers that belong to you the people

So step 7 is to never ever again to pass power from Westminster to Brussels or anywhere else without asking people in a referendum first"

I will keep this short because it is easy to understand even by the most 'blue of conservative's'

Cameron is being economical with the truth... Brussels will never ever ask 'us the people' again about treaties or giving away power.

Because the Lisbon treaty is SELF AMENDING that is what UKIP warned people of about it ! ! The EU DON'T NEED TO EVER ASK US ...so there will never be a referendum... And Cameron KNOWS THIS.

Along with his 'cast iron promise' this is the second time that Cameron has tried to CON the CONS. in an obvious effort to defuse a vote to UKIP from the Conservative membership who also want out of the EU.

WE must worry call me Dave a lot !!

Ian Walsh (

Torbay UKIP Vice Chairman)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
